BASS UPDATE
July started badly with poor weather
and below average temperatures which seemed to put what fish were in off the
boil. The normal mark in Pagham offered very good clarity and some pretty good
evening sessions for numbers of fish but nothing showing over 3lbs as yet
.
Since the end of the first week I've moved marks to an isolated flat of
around 2km circumference with once again very good clarity and good retained
water temps . It seems to be offering up alot more fish as there is very little
fishing pressure perhaps because this bar is accessed by a short boat ride and
then a good 6 to 7 hours wading the shallows . Average numbers per session at
the moment are 30-40 fish with quite nice sizes up to 3.5lbs which is great
sport and a number of clients getting 30 or more each . Clousers seem to do the
job but as yet no Bass are taking any sand eel patterns so anything small is
working .
Although the weather seems to be below average the water is
still warm and there are plenty of bait fish moving which seems to be keeping
the Bass on the boil. Hopefully we'll have an even better Aug and if like last
year the temperatures hold we may be able to fish into late October . To those
who have already joined me / rebooked or are pending a trip , many thanks for
all your support this season and tight lines to you all .
