New Bass Fishing DVD Available A Season on the Salt 2010

Finally it’s here, and after 15 months of filming and editing with help from Steve Edmonds and Steve Hulatt from TVMI, we’ve produced what I believe is a ground breaking DVD about fly fishing for Sea Bass in the UK.
Salt water fly fishing is booming and the appetite for understanding the species and the methods we use to target this predator were the underlying reason for embarking on this epic journey, which takes the viewer from Spring time fishing on the fly through to late Autumn along the coasts of West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

I hope what we have produced will help likeminded enthusiasts become better at enjoying the coast and at understanding this fantastic marine resource.

This Double DVD set has over 100 minutes of UK footage and a further 40 minutes of Bonus footage in Connecticut USA.

A very big thank you to all our sponsors for supporting us throughout the making of this title namely, Ian Maclean (Orvis), Christer Sjoberg & Peter Asenlund (LOOP), John Wolstenholme (Fulling Mill) and Roger Zebedee and Steve Warner (Beulah UK)

Up and coming events

There are two pre-season events worth keeping an eye on:

The first is Orvis’ open day at Blenheim Palace on the 11th April (see link http://www.blenheimpalace.com/whats-on/events/fly_fishing.html) which is their new venue and has taken over from their very successful open day on the River Test in Hampshire, simply due to logistics and increasing client demand. This is a top quality event and a chance to not only meet and greet friends and clients but also a chance to test all their new kit in the sporting field – I hope to see you all there.

The second, is the Meon Springs event on the 18th April (http://www.meonsprings.com/) which has always proven to be a cracking day in relaxed company – fingers crossed the weather is kind for both these events.

Finally, the guide book is open and we are 70% full for the coming year already so I’m looking forward to meeting old faces and some new ones as well. The winter this year has been cold, wet and what seems to be very long so the Bass this year will have moved far away from our shallow and sheltered inshore fishery over the winter months and into deeper more stable clines.
I look forward to guiding you all this season, so sharpen your hooks, select your lines and start walking the coastline as it won’t be long until Labrax starts her journey home and shows you her high spiked fins once again.
