Salt water fly fishing in the UK has rapidly established itself as the largest growth area of the fly fishing market and to many flyers the thought of where to start is a daunting one. We have over 300 miles of Southern coastline and the most common question asked is “where do I start”… after all it’s a big pond with a pretty small Clouser in it!

A typical tutorial would cover the following areas:

1. The Atlantic Bass and other salt water species (Striped Bass, Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon)
2. The Inter tidal Zone & Fly fishing the tides and lunar cycle
3. Marine ecology and essential foreshore observations
4. Water condition and temperatures
5. Salt water fly fishing techniques (Strip Striking, Retrieves, Spotting fish, rigs, line management, guides)
6. Casting Instruction (Double hauling, reverse casting - weather permitting)
7. UK Bass fishery vs US Bass Fishery

The aim of the course is to establish a comprehensive understanding of the quarry species and to provide a sound foundation of being able to fly fish for Atlantic Bass in not only Chichester Harbour but our surrounding coastline and abroad.
